What New

Winter Training sessions start Sundays 5th October 2008 and indoor training from Wednesdays 8th October.  Outdoors sessions Wednesday evenings at the VSSC will still be permissable but the Thursday sessions will cease until next spring.

Next Beacon committee 1st October 8pm.  Next VSSC committee 23rd October.  VSSC AGM 20th November.  Beacon AGM 7th December

This year's Show in May was the warmest ever and at complete contrast to last year's drenching, the wettest in twenty years. With temperatures in the high seventies it was T-shirts and shorts all the way.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make it a great week-end. The laid-back competitors, all Beacon members who helped to make the show such a success and managing a fair share of the wins and placings in the process. And a special thank you to all the fledgling agilitists from Traci's section who helped out and also ran the Pay on the Day ring, the Walsall Sea Cadets. Last but not least, to Fiona and her committee. Without their hard work the Show would not have happened at all.

Congratulations to Nicky for her magnificant wins
with Indi at Crufts 2008.  All three of the
International Triathlon events for Small dogs
and then capping that with the Small Dogs
 Agility Championship finals.  Well done.

Olympian congratulations to Jackie Gardner coming 2nd in the KC Novice Agility Final with Del, and Marc Wingate-Wynne coming 4th with Wings.

Also to Nicola winning the KC Small Pairs relay with Indi (Obay Truly Driven) and partner Peggy Briscoe, narrowly beating club mate Bernadette Bay (Obay Truly Wicked) into 2nd place with her partner. Well done Marc,Nikki and Jackie having qualified for Olympia.  Jackie qualified three dogs - we think that is a first for Olympia. Jackie also came 6th in the Medium finals with Jude.

Our Club represented Great Britain again in the
World Championships in Norway in 2007.
Alan with Jude and Bernadette with Zen helped
the Great Britain team to 2nd place for the
Combined Agility and Jumping Medium finals,
Bernadette getting 3rd in the Individual Agility
Medium with Zen.

Nicky with Indy helped the British team to 5th
in the Combined Agility and Jumping final.
Well done everybody.

Bernadette Bay who lives in West Sussex who
technically became a Club Member earlier this
year.  While Beacon cannot take any credit for
her success but we are still proud to have so
many successful competitors in our Club.

In brief, you should know the following about us: our club was established in 1985 and has brought forward scores of agility winners since. We do not take ourselves too seriously, but we do take having fun seriously.

If you are looking for breed ring craft or competitive obedience training, sorry, we can't help.  Agility and having fun is our only focus.  A sense of humour, a bit of dedication and a carvan or big car is helpful and owning a dog can be an advantage.

You can reach us at 0121 303 3234 (office hours) after 27th July 08 or you can also contact us at our e-mail address: enquiries@beaconagility.org.uk

Beacon Agility Dog Training Club is based at the excellent grounds and facilites of the Veseyan Sports and Social Club at Little Hardwick Road, just off the A452, between Aldridge and Streetly.

Training is informal.  That, is you train your dog in the style that suits you.  There is little formal training of the handler though we do occassionally invite guest trainers.

If you need formal training for a young puppy, or control of the dog, or basic navigation of agility equipment then our sister club Veseyan Obedience for Agility, run by our Chairman Traci Gaunt can help. Contact Traci 01922 624401. or 07727 280327 (mobile).  Training night is Tuesday (not August).

If you are only looking for pet obedience then try Sutton Coldfield & District Dog Training Club, contact Miss E. Stevenson 0121 308 6925, or Lichfield and District Dog Training Society contact Mrs B Smith 01543 674238.
